“How a Book is Built” was presented by Brian Hotchkiss, executive director of Vern Associates, at the general meeting of the Friends of Lynnfield Library on Saturday, April 12, 2008.  Mr. Hotchkiss discussed how books are built from start to finish, using samples of books in various stages of development.  Vern Associates of Newburyport is known for making high-quality illustrated books for museums, non-profit organizations, and corporations, see: www.vernassoc.com.  Of local interest, Vern Associates recently packaged Dean Lahikainen’s book Samuel McIntire: Carving an American Style about McIntire, who contributed to the cultural heritage of Salem, Massachusetts by designing several buildings there, and providing ornamental decoration for buildings, furniture, and woodwork.

The Friends of the Lynnfield Library comprise over 300 Lynnfield residents.  Members of the organization last year volunteered hundreds of hours and raised thousands of dollars to support activities provided by the Library.
