We invite you to be a Friend
of the Lynnfield Public Library! Here’s
some information about this fun and valuable organization.
Q. What do the Friends of the Lynnfield Library do?
A. Primarily, the Friends group raises funds to
provide additional financial resources for the Lynnfield Public Library.
Q. How does the Library use the funds raised by the Friends?
A. Here are some of the ways the Library makes
great use of the Friends’ fundraising dollars:.
- Funding “Meet the Author” programs
such as Andre Dubus III.
- Paying for performers and program presenters
at the Library such as Bill Littlefield, during "Reading's a Hit Every Time."
- Providing wireless access for patrons with
laptops and PDAs.
- Funding materials and books for children’s
programs
- Providing money to buy DVDs and videotapes
for circulation
- Purchasing museum passes for circulation
- Purchasing and providing the money needed
to operate the staff photocopy machine
- Funding the production and mailing of Library
Link, the Library’s community newsletter.
- Paying for professional development for
Library staff and Friends officers.
Q. Why would I want to join the Friends?
A. There are lots of reasons to join the Friends!
Maybe you love the Lynnfield Public Library and want to show your support.
Maybe you just love books and want to share that love with others.
Maybe you just want to be more involved in the community. Perhaps you’re
interested in meeting new people. Or maybe you have a skill or talent
that you’re eager to use – the Friends has lots of volunteer opportunities
for you! Or maybe you have an even better reason. Whatever it
is, we welcome you!
Q. How much does it cost to become a Friend of the Lynnfield Library?
A. Any amount of giving is adequate to become a
Friend, although recommended annual giving categories are Individual ($15),
Family ($25), Patron ($26-$74), and Benefactor ($75+).
Q. How do I join?
A. Just complete a Friends Membership Form available
on the Friends’ Web site (click to download
a form) or at the Library. Submit it in person or mail it to
the Library with your check made payable to Friends of the Lynnfield Library.
Q. When do the Friends meet?
A. Generally, the Friends group meets three times
